Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Duty Medical Officer (DMO) to join our healthcare team. The DMO will be responsible for providing immediate medical care to patients, managing emergency situations, and ensuring the smooth operation of medical services during their shift. This role requires excellent clinical skills, the ability to make quick decisions, and a compassionate approach to patient care.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Care:

    • Provide comprehensive medical care to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.

    • Assess and manage patients presenting with acute and chronic conditions.

    • Perform medical procedures such as suturing, wound care, and resuscitation when necessary.

  2. Emergency Response:

    • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide appropriate medical intervention.

    • Stabilize patients in critical conditions and coordinate transfer to specialized care units if needed.

  3. Clinical Management:

    • Monitor and manage the medical condition of patients admitted under your care.

    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging as required.

    • Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans in consultation with other healthcare professionals.

  4. Coordination and Communication:

    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare team members.

    • Provide clear and concise handovers to incoming shifts to ensure continuity of care.

    • Liaise with consultants and specialists for advice and referrals when necessary.

  5. Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patients.

    • Ensure timely and thorough documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.

  6. Quality and Safety:

    • Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and clinical guidelines to ensure patient safety.

    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to enhancing the standard of care.

  7. Professional Development:

    • Stay updated with the latest medical advancements and best practices.

    • Participate in ongoing education, training programs, and clinical audits.


Qualifications:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.

  • Valid medical license to practice in [Your Location].

  • Proven experience as a Duty Medical Officer or in a similar role.

  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of medical procedures and treatments.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations and make quick decisions.

  • Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.


Preferred Skills:

  • Advanced life support (ALS) or basic life support (BLS) certification.

  • Experience in emergency medicine or critical care.

  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
