Job Purpose

Promotes excellence in patient treatment by developing day to day management, collaborating with physicians and multi-disciplinary professional staff. Provide physical and psychological support for patients, friends, and families. Identifies and completes patient service requirements; adheres to nursing guidelines; assures quality of care; manages staff; establishes compassionate environment; resolves patient needs; maintains safe and clean working environment; ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment; coordinates with other departments for issue resolution and smoother interdepartmental functioning.


Minimum Requirements

The following qualifications or equivalents are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job.


Education and formal Training:
  • MSc/ BSc Nursing / GNM

  • Current CPR required.


Work Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years clinical experience

  • Minimum 4 years as a supervisor

  • Minimum 1 years of experience in Nursing Administration.


Knowledge, skills, and Abilities Required: 
  • Demonstrated verbal, written skills and positive interpersonal skills.  

  • Demonstrated effective organizational, teaching and leadership skills. 

  • Knowledge of the age specific physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of the patients served. 

  • Judgment, nursing skills, creating a safe and effective environment, medical teamwork.


Job Responsibilities:

Organisational

  • Devises and implements best practices to maintain and reinforce the organisation’s leadership position in the industry.

  • Devises and implements both short term and long-term strategies of the department in tune with the organization’s objectives.


Leadership      

  • Plans, directs, monitors, and appraises the performance of the nursing staff and drives their performance towards outstanding results.   

  • Motivates and encourages the nursing staff to develop advances in nursing, patient care and service.


Operational

  • Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with patients and others to understand service requirements.                                                               

  • Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.

  • Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing the program and its operational and personnel policies and procedures.

  • Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting nursing division’s philosophy and standards of care, measuring health outcomes against standards.

  • Strengthens nursing team by selecting, orienting, and training nursing staff.

  • Completes patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing staff, following up on work results.

  • Carrying out daily ward rounds to ensure that all procedures are being carried out as per policy.

  • Maintains nursing staff results by coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results.

  • Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.

  •  Investigation of complaints from patients and their resolution.

  • Provide timely reports and feedback to the management on any issues related to patient care.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviews professional publications; enhances knowledge and skills required for development of self, functional and multi-functional abilities, and capabilities. Resolves patient needs by utilizing multi-disciplinary team strategies.

  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures and rules, calling for assistance from other health care professional.

  • Conducting routine meetings at different levels to monitor the service delivery levels.

  • Maintains patient confidence and ensures the smooth running of operations by monitoring confidential information processing.

  • Maintains documentation of patient care services by auditing of patient and department records.

  • Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability, completing preventive maintenance requirements, evaluating new equipment and techniques.

  • Maintains a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams by communicating information; responding requests; building rapport and develops multi functionality.

  • Bench marks and implements best practices in the departmental functioning.

  • Encouraged and develops team member multifunctionality.

  • Identifies performers in the department and chalks out an action plan for their development and growth in tune with the strategies and objectives of the organization.

  • Any other work assigned by Corporate Clinical Team / Unit Head, from time to time.
